Avoid this callous insurance company. We’ve been customers for years, even when their prices went up and up, tripling, and never made a claim. Yet they suddenly drop us when we’re elderly and disabled over a tarp we put on our roof just to protect it as a precaution until we can afford a new one. Unbelievable.

Horrible experience had a flood that originated from my suite. I was responsible for the emergency cost. I sent invoice to adjuster on Aug 22, thought it would have been took care of, didn’t think about it until November I got an invoice from my strata, asking for payment. Called the adjuster and resent original email from August. Then was paid with in 10 days. Finally last week restoration was finished. I was advised by the adjuster to pay my deductible to restoration company, which I did. She referred me to this company, they advised me wouldn’t even start work until they received, so I paid them I wanted to proceed. Which people advised me you don’t usually do until work is finished. Regardless she emails me to pay deductible to restoration company today months after this has been paid. She called me with a very defensive attitude today. All on recording very professional. I’m confident she knows that restoration company doesn’t proceed with out having deductible paid, for she referred me. She blames previous invoice not getting paid on not having claim number in subject line so gets missed in the system, even though exact email with invoice in it I forwarded to her and it got paid. Can’t even wrap my head around that because we have direct email from me to her work email in her name? She also blames restoration company for not putting the deductible on the invoice, for her contacting me. So happy this 6 month ordeal is finally over, been with same insurance company over 25 years. Had a flood previously everything went smooth, 12 plus years ago. This individuals service and how she talks has made me decide when my term is up I will find a new insurance provider. Hopefully I have no more issues until then. No accountability for dropping the bomb and likes to deflect blame. Plus side restoration looks great.

Our rental property was flooded back in December of 2022 and we had a great experience going through Wawanesa to have the damage mitigated. We were assigned an adjuster who made sure we were constantly in the loop on the progress or damage restoration and everything was done over the internet which made our job of applying for mitigation fairly smooth and easy.

Terrible experience trying to work through the claims process of personal items policy coverage. Lack of transparency and policy reference. Wawanesa is making up their own rules as they go, refusing to align with policy coverages.

Once we finally got in touch with a supervisor, our process drastically improved and came to a fair resolution. If you feel like you aren’t getting the service or answers you need, escalate your concerns.

For 30 years I was claim free, paid my bill each year and the insurance company never paid out one cent during this time. During covid unfortunately we had 3 claims, 1 for a bike that was stolen which they said they would have covered but their deductible (1,000) was more than the cost of the bike (900). 2 for a stolen laptop during shipping that they did not cover, and 3 for water ingress damage to my condo upgrades and flooring which they blamed the strata for and would not pay. Despite me increasing my insurance and them doubling the cost of insurance during the same covid time frame. I specifically asked my broker B&W insurance to make sure i was covered and it didn't matter. The bottom line is i was never paid one cent from any of the 3 claims. When I told them i was going to complain and write this review they blacklisted me. The industry colludes and works together and one company who writes a bad thing about you, they all find out. Now i cant even get insurance on my place. Thanks Wawanesa how can anyone want to work for such a horrible company, how do you sleep at night? You go out your way to have power over an do damage to an unhappy client by getting them blacklisted. I know if my businesses had that power over our clients i'm pretty sure the government would step in and shut me down. When is there going to be accountability for such allowed practices in Canada and such a horrible company?

Wow look at these reviews! 2 star average seems about right. I strongly advise against using Wawanesa, they denied my water damage claim for some obscure reason and I had to pay for repairs out of pocket. Then they charged me a huge penalty to cancel my policy to go to another provider so I can avoid this problem in the future. Make sure to read the fine print. Brokers don't often spend the time to go over all of the details and exclusions. There are other better options out there.

I have been with them through Fawcett insurance for three years for renters insurance. Great rate and had to use for the first time as my e-bike was stolen. Amazingly quick to reply, Lexi was awesome and I received my replacement funds very quickly to get a new bike! Highly recommend!

Worst insurance company ever. They don't care about their customers. Most other insurance companies out there provide advanced and complementary services with the same cost and some with even lower premiums, and this company gets more money from clients and can't even provide a basic coverage.
