The worst insurance company I have dealt with in my 30+ years of driving. If I could give it No stars I would. I have nothing against Tony Yau per se his office staff is quick to respond and friendly. However when I had had to make a claim or tried to make payment arrangements because I was laid off I have received sub par service. Having a new vehicle I decided to go with replacement insurance. When I was hit from behind I received an estimate from my accredited licensed garage. The adjuster came to look at my car and awarded me less than half the estimate amount. When I complained and said that I couldn’t find anyone to fix it for that price. They said it would have been covered had I used their garage. I immediately downgraded my expensive premium insurance since it was clear they did not honour it. When I was ran into again by a tow truck and caused considerable damage I brought it to their garage which is Car Star. The work was approved however Car Star was so back up my car sat there for 3 months. I was out of a vehicle for 3 months because I was only given a 5 day rental. When I eventually got my car back while driving home my car was smoking and screeching. As a result of sitting there for 3 months my brakes had ceased something car star admitted to happening. I called the adjuster had several conversations about fixing my brakes I put in a claim and never heard back. I had to fix them myself. I got laid off and tried to make payment arrangements asking not to do an automatic withdrawal so that I don’t incur NSF fees and could they not charge me late fees. That I could guarantee the funds later that month. Tony’s office contacted the finance department and they refused to accommodate or waive the late fees. Desjardins advertises that they are there for the people but they are not. They suck

Great office environment, a little cold during winter time. Tony and team always welcome me with big smile and lots of snacks. Blue reviewed the home and auto insurance with me, the cell phone app discount did save me a lot of money. Highly recommend!

I was with Tony for the better part of 15 years, and only recall one instance after signing on where I actually was graced with his presence/direct correspondence. After ever increasing premiums (which I’ve now come to know as typical of State Farm/Desjardins), and only one at-fault claim over 5 years ago, I reached out and asked what could be done to lower them (rental and auto). The response from his team was I could install an app to assess my driving, or “If you got married, it can also save you some money.”

Fortunately, I live in the 21st century, and switched providers.
