This year, I had to find a new accountant to prepare my tax returns, as the one I worked with for 20 years retired. I was very selective and interviewed a a number of accountants - I even tried out (and decided against) a different one before I met Shirin. Shirin has many years and a uncommon depth of experience. Her credentials are also impressive! I met with her in person and found her to be not only very knowledgeable and competent, but also a lovely person! She is very professional and has an organized, efficient way of working with clients. She is responsive in her communications, and she completed my tax return very quickly. SMF CPA Ltd. did three separate jobs for us: End of year company accounting, financial statement preparation and taxes for a company; a personal tax for a working individual; and personal tax for individuals with assets locally and abroad with a complex tax structure. Services were bare minimum with no guidance. I felt uncomfortable filing my taxes and will be seeking a second opinion to confirm there were no missed opportunities while filing both business and personal taxes. After my taxes were filed, I was told that "financial statements would require a separate extra charge of $1200." To my knowledge, I assumed these would be included in the price beforehand.
