I don't often write bad reviews. But ill make an exception for Qtrade. Dealing with them to open an account was LITERALLY the MOST BLOOD BOILING experience I have had in any interaction with any company or government organization of my life. Opening an account and transferring in a investment account took months, and still wasn't done so i had to choose for RBC. Each customer service representative is perfectly pleasant, but problems are never resolved and you end up talking to a different agent each time. DO NOT USE QTRADE AND GO TO RBC DIRECT!!!!!!!!!!

I have used Q Trade for years & think it's a great brokerage platform-- easy to use, low fees. If you're using a low cost online DIY broker, it is important to read carefully and know the rules. On the rare occasions, where I've had to phone, I have found them courteous and helpful.

Horrid. They sold 995,000 of MY shares without contacting me because I owed a $25 maintenance fee. Absolute robbery and have reported to the BBB - I recommend others who have similar experiences to do the same.

Tried to open an account, digital ID function glitched, was told to do manual verification (which is a pain) but the glitch persists and can't even do that. Phoned in and they said we will cancel your application and you can start again. Did that, same thing and now it has completely hung and can't even do manual process. So they said to snail mail everything to them. What!?! So good chance I will be losing money while this insane archaic process happens. Award winning platform? Nope. Canada's best support? Nope. Industry leading tools? Ha!

Very disappointed with the customer service, very rude and unprofessional. I had an automatic EFT scheduled but canceled it a week before the withdrawal. Meanwhile moved the funds to another bank account. To my surprise, the withdrawal still went through and I got charged an NSF fee. When asked why, customer service said you canceled it too late so we still processed it.

This trading platform is an absolute joke. To cover a 47 cent deficit in my account, they sold $30 worth of stocks without even contacting me, and then claimed I still owed them 8 cents after they took out fees. If I could give a zero star rating I would.

Absolute garbage of a company. I am in the process of transferring everything out and excited to do so. Use Wealthsimple for as many accounts as you can.

I opened an account in March 2020 and have found the platform to be generally reliable. Trading fees sometimes higher than other self directed trading platforms but still a lot lower cost than using wealth advisors to trade. Customer service hasn't kept up with the growth in users, which is unfortunate. I've only had to contact them a couple of times so it hasn't been a big problem for me.
