We’ve been using Mr.Taxes for several years now and have consistently had a positive experience. The team is professional, precise, and truly knows their stuff.

I’ve been working primarily with Robert, and while it can sometimes take a bit longer to hear back from him, it’s always worth the wait. He’s calculated, thorough, and takes the time to ensure everything is done right. When it comes to taxes, that kind of diligence and accuracy really matters.

Robert has consistently maximized my personal tax returns year after year. He also handles my wife’s taxes for both of her businesses — though I’ll leave it to her to share her own experience. For me, I’ve had nothing but professionalism and peace of mind with Mr.Taxes. We’ll continue to recommend them based on the quality and care we’ve received.

Okay — this is going to be long, but it needs to be said.

I’ve used Mr.Taxes for the past 4 years and always had a great experience working with Marion. She was fantastic — we’d meet over Zoom, review my documents together, and she’d clearly explain everything. Her communication was excellent, and everything was completed on time. Because of this, I continued using Mr.Taxes year after year.

Fast forward to early 2025: I reached out to Marion three times with no response. Eventually, I emailed the general info address and received a reply from Robert, who informed me that Marion was no longer with the company but that someone else could help me with my 2024 taxes.

Since I had always been treated well, I assumed I’d receive the same quality of service. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

I submitted my documents in February. My taxes were not completed until May 5th — only after I asked for a full refund. Communication during this time was extremely poor. Emails went unanswered for days, sometimes weeks, and when they were, my questions weren’t clearly addressed. Very vague responses. Phone calls went unanswered, and messages were not returned. Even direct emails to Robert went without a reply.

I understand tax season is a busy time — it always was for Marion too — but she still managed to communicate effectively and handle everything professionally. This time around, the experience was frustrating, disappointing, and not at all what I had come to expect from Mr.Taxes.

I have heard from many people in my business community who have shared similar experiences with Mr.Taxes this year. I’m not sure what’s changed, but based on this experience, I can no longer recommend this establishment.

In the end, I forfeited what I originally paid and went to a different tax agency, which completed everything in under two weeks — with great communication throughout.

I have used Mr Taxes for the last few years and have always been satisfied with the service I received. I have two young kids, a personal business, a full-time job, and a rental income so my filing can get complicated. In the previous years this has never been an issue. This year (2025) I reached out and paid for their services in January. I submitted all my documents in early Feb. I did not hear from anyone at Mr Taxes so I contacted them for an update at the end of February. I received an email in early March stating that my file and documents had been lost and that I needed to resubmit everything. I resubmitted the same day and did not receive a response. I emailed at the end of March asking for an update and was told that my taxes would be filed early April. That timeframe came and went so I reached out again mid-April asking for an update. I was told my file would be submitted that day. It wasn’t filed until April 28th! I checked the status of my file on May 9th and discovered that the CRA had “…contacted my representative for additional information.” No one from Mr Taxes told me that they had received a letter so I reached out on May 9th asking what was going on. A week later I was told that I needed to send in additional documents (no problem) which I submitted the next day. I was told my documents would be uploaded and that Mr Taxes would respond to the letter on May 16th. It’s is now May 29th…I asked for an update yesterday and their response was “..sorry. We will do it asap.” This is absolutely horrendous business practices. A paying client needing to reach out for constant updates on the status of their file and the overall lack of communication from Robert and Co overall is unacceptable. Do not give this company a cent of your money and find a reputable tax representative who values your time, your livelihood, and your business.

I was recommended this company by a friend, who clearly has no idea what he is talking about.

We have called and emailed Mr.Taxes weekly for months now trying to get some things sorted for our company. We have been told "Don't worry, tomorrow" every single time.

We had 90 days to respond to the CRA (Which Mr.Taxes claimed to have done/do) and the time actually ran out. This is unbelievably unprofessional, and unfortunately I wasn't smart enough to have read the reviews. I just trusted someone I knew. Don't make the same mistake as us. Always read the reviews before using a company.

STAY AWAY from this firm unless you would like to lose money.
The combination of poor communication and numerous filing errors has left us genuinely annoyed with your firm. We engaged your services to alleviate the burden of managing our taxes, not to take on additional responsibilities and deal with the consequences of oversights.

Normally I would just move on, however our experience has been so bad that I have to put out a warning instead of a review. Your firm has handled our taxes for the year 2021-22 in the most shoddy unprofessional manner. Both my wife Pavitra and I have received multiple emails on different matters regarding to errors in our taxes filings and had to pay outstanding residual fees to the CRA through the last financial year. First with regard to late filing fines, then with Pavitra’s child care expense returns. Recently in the month of January, Pavitra found out while on a phone call with the CRA that there were errors in filings of her RRSP again and she owed around 400. Recently, again we were contacted by the CRA that The T1-OVP contribution last date was Mar 31, and the firm submitted 15 May. Due to this we have a late filing fine for around $4000+
In my case I reached out to you multiple times through email and phone calls because there was a lapse submitting documents showing child care expenses and I owed CRA around $5000! The email from CRA states a letter was sent to my representative in the month of July. I did not get any notification from you. When I finally got through to Alicia, she outright denied that she was contacted from CRA. I discovered the penalty email when I checked my CRA account.

Our expectation was that your firm would efficiently manage our accounts. We even opted for the paid option where you would contact us if CRA send us letters. Regrettably, the reality has been far from it. We sought your assistance for accounting and communication with the CRA, yet it seems we are now doing your job.

Okay, I’ve been putting off making this review because I felt I needed to calm down a bit and collect my thoughts before submission - Here goes nothing.

In February 2023, I reached out to Robert and Co. at Mr Taxes in New Westminster to try and get a head start on completion of my taxes for the year.

I had received my PR the year prior, so this was to be my first year filing taxes with the CRA in Canada, and I REALLY didn’t want to mess anything up. So, I decided to reach out to Mr Taxes to help me get things sorted correctly.

Robert and his associates were all very friendly and approachable, and quickly put me at ease about my choice to move forward using their services.

Quickly, though, this turned into a mess - I started this journey in February 2023 with the hopes of filing early and being done with it, but did not complete the journey until nearly August 2023.

Although I don’t think anything “shady” was done, I do think they were trying to “game the system” a little bit to try and squeeze out whatever extra cash they could. Okay, that makes sense, in theory.

The first problem arose when we filed the first time. For some reason, they stated I worked for my own company, when in fact I do not own my own business at all and work for a company in the US. The CRA sent me a letter requiring more information, because they didn’t know I “owned a business” either. This was one way they tried to “game the system”, and there was no reason to do this.

The second problem arose when they made a mistake in the RE-file, putting the incorrect birthdate for my spouse, and again causing the CRA to put a hold on the file and reach out for clarification. Another delay, another mistake that should not happen.

Finally, after months and months of back and forth and trying to get clarification from Mr Taxes and understand what the heck they were trying to pull with my taxes, everything was closed out.

I was frustrated basically the entire time, especially because they were extremely lackadaisical and “chill” the entire time, even after multiple delays and mistakes.

I won’t be coming back here to do business. You’re a nice guy Bob, but you did an extremely, extremely poor job handling my taxes, and that’s what you’re here for.

I’m still miffed I paid over $500 for this “service”, oh well. Next year I’ll just figure it out for myself.

Update, October 2024: Turns out my 2022 taxes STILL are not complete. Never. Ever. Use. Mr. Taxes. Run as fast as you can in the opposite direction.
