Very displeased with the quality of goods And services at this food bank most of the "unparishables" we're vastly expired The meats smelt like rancid dead bodies most of it was expired A week or more and the produce was moldy Beyond salvage don't understand how that's possible When on social media they're constantly raving about all the donations they're getting And every time I'm at a grocery store the donation bin is overflowing with fresh goods don't understand why I never get any of them that's when I started to see something didn't smell right And I'm not just talking about their meats

I have volunteered at the Penticton Salvation Army food bank and they had a strict policy against giving away anything that was expired or looked spoiled it would go into a crate and be given to a farmer for pigs Weekly

I suspect there's some financial foul Play happening with donations at the Nanaimo loaves and fishes with the amount they brag about getting donated to them regularly compared to the quality of goods I received multiple times visiting their food bank there can be no other conclusion than someone's been dipping their hand in the honeypot

The appropriate department needs to audit them and make sure they're using their donations appropriately and no one skimming off the top because currently something is definitely off at the Nanaimo loaves and fishes food bank 😡😡😡

I was assaulted by a stranger to the point of disability. I had a job, but my employer failed to do my ROE and because of that I wasn’t able to get funding immediately. Fish and loaves It’s part of the reason I didn’t end up on the streets in this horrible situation. Everyone there is so kind and understanding of me as I have PTSD and a physical disability. I also suffer from agoraphobia since the assault but feel comfortable going there. Everyone is so compassionate. I had a panic attack while at a market and Sue and the other staff were so kind and helpful. Thank you to everyone there, you are truly angels.

An amazing place. They take care of so many people on our island. Hardworking employees and volunteers , generous donations from individuals, grocers, and service clubs make it happen.

I had no idea how much is housed here and how many people they are helping. Some of my work mates and I volunteered to sort some of the food that we were donating and it was such a positive experience. We felt so inspired that we are now going to set up a monthly slot where we go volunteer again. The staff and other volunteers were so positive and welcoming, really felt appreciated.

☆You have to see it with your own eyes. ☆How hard they work for the people and it's their own pleasure to do so.
☆In the end its to have people with food in their bellies and to carry on living a life to enjoy.. in the end I believe it's the one place.. all gather from different ethnicities and from different walks of life it's sort of a corner of God's coffee house and in strange ways bringing all peoples together.

. it is a great place for people needing help. The volunteers are a great bunch of people. and often receive words of thanks from people who use the food bank for the work we do. I have seen vast improvements in the running of L&F since I started 11 years ago. Well done to all the staff, the volunteers,and the people and the stores that donate food to the food bank.

This food bank and their volunteers are absolutely amazing! This place and all their locations serve many people and have great options for those in need. As a single parent having to ask for help sometimes is hard but there is no judgement here and make you feel welcome. They have fresh produce, dairy , canned goods and more! Recommend using this if needed.
