Insurance itself was good. I never made a single claim and never missed a single payment. But anytime (in 3 years) i had to contact them it took several weeks and many attempts. Usually I ended up asking reception for the information anyways. Had an issue recently and my account manager (Trent) must have been having a bad day because he opted me in to have my policy canceled right away. I asked to talk to a super or manager which he replied "I AM the supervisor AND the manager" so I guess I'm boned for insurance with these guys anymore. With my spotless record I had zero problem finding another insurance place and got a cheaper price anyways, so, thanks for the 3 years+ of stress I guess?

If I could give zero stars I would.
I’ve been with DBI for almost 7 years, when I started everything was prompt, communication was great and then my adjuster got promoted (and rightfully so)
And I was transferred to a lady named joanne, she had the worst customer service I’ve seen to this day, she wouldn’t respond to emails, she wouldn’t answer calls, I would go WEEKS without hearing any updates or confirmations on any changes to my insurance, within these few years my insurance went UP every year, even with no late payments or tickets or claims every year I was going up.
There was an incident with joanne where she didn’t transfer my e-transfered funds to my insurance company resulting in them cancelling my insurance (which I hadn’t known about because there was no communicator)
Later on I found out she neglected to send the funds and then tried to disguise it by telling me the company wanted to reset my policy (pay 2 months advance)
It wasn’t until I contacted the actual insurance company that I learned she had been communicating to try and fix her mistake.
I was told there was no cancelliatopn to follow on my record because of this but it was on my record until I called and refused to leave it alone until I was able to get it removed.
Every year I’ve tried to switch insurance providers and DBI would never even hear me out about it.
Through finding new insurance I learned a lot of the stipulations that I was told came with this insurance wasn’t true and I had been misinformed by DBI.
Just this past month my insurance was set to renew and after being told the insurance company hadn’t done the proper paperwork less than 24 hours later I received a payment breakdown to see I was being charged almost 60% increase.
Again no tickets, no claims.
I finally made the call to pull away from DBI and am now happily insured for $300 less A MONTH.
This place has terrible costumer service, terrible communication and will do anything they can to not lift a finger.

When we signed on with dbi Brokers as our insurance broker in 2019, Chris Benson provided very prompt & thorough service in assessing our appropriate insurance requirements and recommending the best insurance providers for our coverage (with no hint of a 'hard sell' approach). In the intervening years, he has been very effective at incorporating changes to our policies (and coverage providers) as our circumstances and needs changed. I highly recommend Chris Benson and dbi Brokers.

Rates keep going up despite zero claims or issues, Phones never work call the 1800 number won't even ring , call every office main number listed on the website in ontario none of them work . Useless.

Long time customer ripped off.
I received a letter from Aviva saying that my house insurance was cancelled because I had a home based business. It was at an inconvenient time because I just had a heart attack. Trent dragged his heels &, with a week left to renew, it became obvious he wasn't going to do anything & so I was forced to source out a new provider last minute. I told him quite bluntly that if they refused to insure my house then he wasn't getting my auto insurance, so I told him to cancel it. That didn't stop them from taking the money out of my account anyways & charging me for insurance I already had. I should have paid more attention, but I trusted them & couldn't handle the stress at that time. I was told that it would be looked after, but it never was.
More recently, my son got a quote from my new provider & it was almost 1/4 of the price. I have to wonder how long I was overpaying because I wasn't shopping.
And if you have a home based business, your insurance might be invalid, so you'd better check.

Trent and the staff at DBI/Burns insurance downtown Paris are absolutely amazing!

They look after all of our construction policies, along with personal policies, and they are always just a phone call away to deal with anything that arises.

One example of the exceptional service was when I was standing in line at the ministry to have a service van plated. I forgot to get a policy number so I called Trent while at the standing at the wicket. He dropped everything he was doing and helped so I could get on my way and avoid another painstaking ministry lineup.

There’s honestly no better customer service out there!
