Our healthcare system in Canada is stretched to its limit. What makes it the best system in the world is the staff at the hospital. I went to the ER yesterday afternoon thinking I had a serious problem with my brain. Everyone was so accommodating and reassuring. It made me proud to be Canadian

Great facility! Free Parking! Clean bright building, we very much prefer this as opposed to the VG. We do Recommended.

Was having very bad stomach pains in early December so decided to let my mom know and she took me to the ER but due to the wait times we ended up going home (7hrs to be seen). The next day I went to the walk-in clinic to be seen immediately when the doctor had told me that I needed to see someone in emerg immediately so rushed back up there that night just to be told that they didn’t need to see me immediately (at this point i’ve submitted 2 urine test with no results back). The day after that I had a severe lower stomach ache and when these would happen I couldn’t move my entire body so my grandmother was willing to wait in the ER with me (3rd urine test in with a 5hr wait to see doctor) BUT when I actually saw the doctor this need they had sent me home and told me to come back tmr morning for an x-ray (why not keep me overnight instead of sending me home for 4hrs?) I came back for my x-ray just to wait another 3 hours for the results of them… When called into a room I thought I was finally gonna get answers but was unfortunately just sent home and told nothing was wrong.

Where do I begin? So many issues over the years. This is just the latest one: My elderly mother has gone to this ER on several occasions in recent months, for an ongoing kidney infection. After a 15 hour wait, the doctor on call this time took her seriously and admitted her instead of sending her home with a prescription, as is the usual practice. She spent the first 2 nights on a stretcher as there were no beds. She did finally got a bed the 3rd night. The nurses in that ward said they had all kinds of free beds, so they’re not sure why she didn’t get one before. The nurses were all very sweet and willing to update me on my mother’s condition. I was told further bloodwork would be done to confirm the iv antibiotics were working. When I checked in later, the nurse said that blood work was done and the numbers were looking good. My mother later confirmed no additional blood work was ever done. So, the nurse had just boldly lied to me. When I went to the hospital to pick my mother up, there was no personnel at the info desk or anywhere near the front entry. We wandered through the hospital, poking our heads in doors to find my mother, only knowing the floor she was on and not what room. We never encountered any staff. We had to track down a nurse to see if there were any instructions for home. When my mother called the pharmacy to ensure her prescription was ready, it had not been phoned in. When the pharmacist contacted the hospital, they had no record of my mother ever being discharged, or what medication had been prescribed. At my mother’s subsequent GP appointment she asked for the results of her colonoscopy that had been done several weeks earlier at this same hospital. When the GP called the hospital for the results, they had no record of the procedure ever being done. The ER is extremely busy and understaffed. The staff there is often cranky and dismissive. The nurses elsewhere in the hospital are sweet and kind, but seemingly undertrained. They do not follow through with bloodwork or imputing important information into their system. The fact there is no staff at the entrance or anywhere else nearby is scary. Anyone can walk into the hospital rooms here and not be stopped or asked any questions. We weren’t. It is a real joke.

Free parking is great, however, on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 as I waited for husband between hours of 0745hrs & 0800hrs, I observed TWELVE apparent staff members park & exit vehicles in my immediate area! Perhaps an assumption, however when they're sporting scrubs, wearing lanyards, pulling briefcases on wheels, this is unacceptable! I have been one of the folks driving around & around trying to find a spot to attend an appointment or go in to pick someone up on several.occasions. Have never seen a Security vehicle/parking in the lot. This needs to be addressed with staff. Thank you.

Sitting in room with family member who had a stroke. We have been here 3 hours and not one doctor has been in to him.
His left side of face is droopy, can't lift his left arm. Puking.
He was brought in by ambulance and we told them not to bring him to Truro

Went in here after experiencing an episode of going unconscious. I waited 10 hours, having to sit in a uncomfortable chair the entire time, started to fall asleep and was hungry too. Saw two others leave during my 10 hour wait from frustration. New Years Eve and they had one Doctor working. The girls in Triage were extremely nice though, can't say enough about that. But the problem is one Doctor on. They listed Unconsciouness on their TV screen, as a level 2 - emergency. An Emergency should not take 10 hours to get an answer. I left without an answer. Had a blood test done half hour after arriving, was told it might be maybe 1 hour to get back to me. Then 9 and 1/2 hours more pass, and no still answer. If I could have layed down it would have been different. I will call my Doctor and try and arrange something. Cause not even on a good day would I want to sit in a uncomfortable chair for 10 hours, not being able to leave to eat something. Should never have taken this long, those other two people that left, left without an answer too. I don't blame them at that point honestly.. It's discouraging.

Staff were very pleasant, wait times are long.

Cleanliness on the other hand is next to none. ER waiting room was filthy. Garbage on the floor, cigarette butts, food.
