I have had nothing but problems with Canada Life with my long term disability claim. From filling out so much paperwork that a lawyer would go cross eyed! Irrelevant and I’m not even sure if some of the questions were legal? I had to chase down paperwork from doctors that were irrelevant. They now owe me three and half months of funds and I have yet to receive a penny! Now they won’t pick up the phone and are hiding! I’m sure lawyers from my union will have to get involved? Absolutely the worst treatment from any insurance company I have dealt with!

After struggling for 6 months to get insurance with them because of their lack of responsiveness and deadlines on their application process, I finally was able to give them my credit card information. They ended up accepting my application but I had two pay 3 months worth of insurance because my application was dated to March. I thought fine, as long as I am covered now. I called a week later because I had not been billed yet even though they said I would be the week before. A talked with a representative who said I was not insured and my application was denied. I decided to go with another insurer (Blue Cross, it was about time). It would be lovely if things ended there... I ended up being billed over 750$ that same week by Canada Life. I've been going through their complaint services for the last month and they are fighting to not give me a single cent back. It is by far the worst customer experience I've ever had and would encourage everyone to go to Blue Cross.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST FOR YOUR RRSP INVESTMENT!!! We have been trying to get a withdrawal done as part of the first home buyer plan and 10 days later we have not heard from them at all, no one can help us on the phone, no one will escalate and now our mortgage is in jeopardy in a time where accessing to home ownhership is already close to impossible. INVEST SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

Zero stars would be more appropriate.

I called to ask them to transfer the money in my GRSP with them to my bank account. Three weeks later, nothing has happened. Now, nobody is picking up the phone on a Monday afternoon. It's a joke.

Do yourself a favour and do NOT trust these people with your money!

This company is a nightmare. It took them more than 1 month to transfer the money to a different financial institution. The only option they offered was to send a cheque with Canada Post. This is 2024…who sends cheques by mail? Just few days after they sent the money these idiots closed the account without any notification. Stay away from them. They also have the highest transfer fee in the industry.

Shady Insurance Company!!!

Received my health spending VISA card after two months and when activated and tried after 24 hours at the clinic, it wasn’t accepted. I wasn’t even provided PIN to use the VISA card. After embarrassment, I had to pay with my credit card.

Noticed they no longer process health spending claims via built-in forms in the app/website and instead asks you to fill out the PDF form!!!! When I submitted my claim, I got no confirmation number. I know it’s going to take forever like none of my previous claims from past several months have been processed.

Extremely slow claim processing time plus barely anyone picks the phone (if they do they pass it around).

They owe me a lot of money! :/

Definitely shady practices; they don’t want to pay.

Awful. This outfit takes in 100's of millions as the health insurance provider for the BC Public Service and provides a level of service that is below what I get at a Wendy's drive-through.

Really good at losing paperwork and ignoring you until time limits pass so they can refuse your claim, make you jump through hoops to appeal only to ignore you again. If you are a company looking for group benefits - look elsewhere.
