Prof Bruce's Coaching is quite simply life changing. He could not have a better motto than Making the Impossible Possible. He has been doing this his entire life and the biggest example was making the Impossible for the City of Ottawa by bringing us the Sens. This made the Nation's Capital a world class city.

I'm a software engineer, an investor, and a generally obsessive-compulsive kind of person. I first met Prof Bruce when he was teaching in the Faculty of Engineering & Design and the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University 17 years ago. I was amazed at how Prof Bruce could take areas of business, that were completely nebulous and impenetrable to outsiders, and explain the story behind the story, from the perspective of both intellectual theory and real-life experience. Even more, I was amazed by how he juggled so many demands on his time, including managing his own business interests and a large, young family, and he still chose to spend his “free” time teaching.

To put this in perspective, the average university professor will spend maybe 20 minutes marking a final project, or he or she will have a teaching assistant mark it. I probably spent 160 hours working on my final project in Prof Bruce's class. I think Bruce spent another 40 hours on my project, simply because he found it interesting. He did the same for all the students in all of his classes. I learned more in that one class (Entrepreneurialist Culture) that year than I did in all my other classes combined.
In the time since then, I've started a number of businesses, put some money away, and immersed myself in stock market and real estate investing. My approach to any form of investing has been to try to gain an informational advantage by reading every piece of literature available. What I've found is that a lot of that information has a low value. In real estate investing, in particular, different geographic areas have very different market behaviors, and these behaviors change from year to year, and even month to month. A book about the Hawaiian real estate market 10 years ago has little value to an Ottawa real estate investor today. The highest value information is hyper local, and recent. That value can be further deepened by a wealth of local experience—both positive and negative.

Finding a coach with that kind of experience is next to impossible. A coach like that doesn't have time for you or me. Yet, Prof Bruce is still taking the time to teach others, just like he did 17 years ago in that university classroom.

I've been actively investing in real estate for ten years and I wanted to and did a 3-day intensive real estate coaching session with Prof Bruce three years ago (called, appropriately enough, Ninja Real Estate for the Advanced Investor). Before that coaching session, I had already read everything—everything—on real estate investing. I thought I was prepared, but that course was still like trying to drink from a firehose.

It's very difficult to grasp how much Prof Bruce knows about real estate and business. The Ninja course was fantastic, and even more important, was the follow-up coaching I received from Dr Firestone while I applied the lessons I’d learned.

When you do anything, you are going to make mistakes. Real estate investing is no different. These mistakes can really affect your investment return, especially when compounded over time. A coach can help prevent many of those mistakes. Preventing one mistake, more than pays for the cost of coaching. And beyond that, making one good decision, with exponential compounding returns, will pay for the cost of coaching a hundred times over. It’s what has allowed me to provide for myself and my growing family as well…
