02/25: I reached out to ATB to inform them that I would be buying a car from a dealership later that day and I wanted to make sure that my card would not be locked, and that my daily purchase limits were set high enough. I was to be buying the car outright with savings from my accounts. The person I spoke to confirmed my card was not locked and my limits were set high enough to allow the purchase. Perfect! I went to the dealership and began the process just to find the branch had locked my card and my entire account, for “suspicious activity.” I then had to sit on hold for nearly an hour at the dealership just to be told that I would have to go into my branch to have my account unlocked. I was sitting at a dealership that was nearly 40 minutes away from my branch at that time, with no car. I told the customer service representative that I wouldn’t be doing that and I needed to speak to a manager immediately. Another 30 minutes passed before I was informed that they would “unlock” my account remotely just this one time for me. I had spent nearly two hours at the dealership dealing with my bank, not the dealership. This shouldn’t have ever happened. At the end of the process my salesman asked me which bank I was with, when I told him “ATB” he laughed and said that he would stay away from them.

Every single large purchase that I have used my ATB accounts for has been fraught with issues. Even after I did my due diligence, they still found a way to mess things up. After this issue I am closing my accounts permanently with ATB. I suggest any other Albertan looking for a good bank to look outside the province. Supporting “local” just isn’t worth it in this case.

My branch itself is amazing. ATB in general is a great bank. Why can I not talk to my branch directly over the phone? I get put in a waiting cue for 20 minutes to find out that the guy in the mortgage department can not answer my questions about my mortgage... He then tries to put me through realizes that they are busy... But guess what!?!? He can't set up a call back time... So I have to call back... Guess what? 20 minutes on hold still no person... Why can I not just call the branch directly

It takes anywhere from 10 mins to 40 mins on hold. Locked my Biz account for some unknown reason and I spent the good part of the afternoon trying to find out why. My Relationship Mgr will be back to me. Still waiting. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS AT ALL !

I have been a customer of ATB for well over 20 years. I have waited several weeks for ATB to release the funds from my mother's will. Every week there's been another excuse. They said they would be in contact "nexr" week and no contact. I'm told this is because of another department handles these funds. I requested for the women looking after me phone this department while I was there. Can you believe this "department" doesn't have a phone number or even have a phone? It has taken this "department" 3 weeks to respond to an email from the woman looking after me. If I owed the ATB money I bet they would be very prompt to be calling me for it plus charge me interest. My account will be closed as soon as I get the money owed me. ATB is going to be losing a really big account because I'm going to selling my Walmart shares. Too bad for you ATB.

Never do business banking with them they dont support small bussiness. They will make ur life hell. If u want ur enemies to suffer tell them to do bussiness banking with atb.

The absolute worst customer service I have ever received from a bank professionally or personally. Nothing but excuses and passing the buck. Excuse after excuse as to why they can help me and to make me drive down in person when my request could simply be done over the phone. As they have many times in the past. I would never give ATB any of business through my profession or personally. Stay away from these guys, they are a sorry excuse for customer service.

I've had an account with the Millwoods Branch for seven years, and I have been extremely happy. When I went to get a pre approved for a mortgage, I told the person exactly what I was looking for which was a mobile home on its own land, but he kept hearing mobile home and I rent the lot. I will be closing all my accounts unless they all get hearing aids. Renting is more expensive than owning a mobile home on its own lot. The only other thing I HATE is there telephone banking, to do one transaction it takes 5 minutes if you get it right.

We had a bank account / visa debit for which someone took the information from and used it to make online purchases. We were told the matter was going to be investigated by the fraud department. However , we were told that this head office denied the request to get our money back and the matter never even reached the fraud department.
