Very disappointing experience today. I used this company before and won’t again. Their charges are outrageous ($8.50 for $50 euros) besides they didn’t have the all the 150 euros I wanted. In the middle of our conversation, a male employee starts talking to the person serving us and they both ignore us! Seriously? We walked out and went up to another exchange on Broughton street. Respectful, helpful young man and prices a fraction of this company. He was sorry for our experience from other company employees and pleased that we went to them… and will from now on. Plus we’ll definitely share our 2 different experiences with our travelling friends.

Hello, I am very happy that your business complies with all Canadian laws. I did a transaction with Victoria Currency Exchange a year ago and that exchange was supposed to give me 80 thousand US dollars. Victoria Currency Exchange deposited the money into my account on behalf of someone I did not know and after a few weeks my account was frozen and the police informed me that the money that went into your account was stolen from that person and I told the police that Victoria Currency Exchange deposited the money into my account. And the police took the money out of my account and returned it to the owner and I have been involved in this matter for a year now and I have paid a lot of money to a lawyer and I still have not been able to get my money back from Victoria Currency Exchange. I am very happy that your business is legal and that you are reporting the high amounts to Fintrack and registering them there. I hope you always succeed.

I’ve done business with these guys for years, but yesterday I had a really disappointing experience. I went in to purchase Euros for an upcoming trip, and they started asking me extremely personal questions—things like my cell number, occupation, home address, travel destination, how I obtained my money, and more. I couldn’t believe how intrusive it was.

Had they let me know in advance that these questions were required, I wouldn’t have gone through the hassle. In the end, I left without making a purchase. I’ve exchanged money there many times in the past and was never asked anything like this.

I ended up going to another exchange house where I completed my transaction without having to provide any personal information. Just a heads-up—be aware that they now ask a lot of private questions.
Additionally, I find a lady receptionist very obnoxious and unfriendly

Wow what wonderful service & best rates in Victoria. I arrived late & was heading to Spain the next day, and the owner helped me get some euro at a better rate than I could even get when I used ATMs later in Spain despite it being at closing time. I only wish I had bought more Euro. At least next time I know!!

Always excellent service and rates here. I have used them for Yen, Pounds and Euros and their rates have always beaten the banks. Super location one Wharf and most efficient. Enjoy the stairs!

Meh very transaction oriented, they really don’t care if you’re there or not, that’s the definite vibe that they give Rather. I should say that the guy gives. I don’t think they ever expect you to come back, and if you’re local, and you happen to need currency exchange, which of course people do… You won’t come back. Because you know they don’t care about your business. There are other currency exchanges in town which is good news. Sure, I got my currency, it would be nice if finding a parking space on wharf Street, as completely difficult as that is, would be more appreciated. But it’s not.
My suggestion, find somewhere else to exchange your money .

6/13/24 Was recommended here by the RBC since we didn't have an account with them for USD to CAD. Smooth transaction, no hassle, and friendly service. Guy at the front desk was very helpful. I will definitely be going to them again next time I'm in Victoria.

I had very bad experiences today (july 6, 2024) with their 2 young male agents. One did not count my money properly and the exchange rate was lower than what they given me before proceeding to their office. The other agent was worst also gave a lower rate and deceived me by taking my money, counted it but punched the amount in the machine half of the $ that I handed over to him! These 2 agents need training on customer service. Calling the owner/president of this establishment! They were rude and dishonest! I have been a customer with them for a decade now but thinking not to go back to this store cause of these traumatic experiences. So people please be wary and careful in transacting your business in here.
