I purchased a boat through Sparta Finance in 2022 and was told—explicitly via email—that all taxes were included in the financing and that I wouldn’t need to pay anything further. Sparta handled the entire transaction, including the financing, paperwork, and boat registration, so I trusted that everything was properly taken care of.

Two years later, I received a letter from the BC Ministry of Finance saying I still owe over $7,000 in unpaid provincial tax. When I contacted Sparta, they ignored me for weeks. Eventually, they said they only collect GST and claimed no responsibility for PST or BC-specific taxes—despite knowing the purchase was happening in BC and handling the entire process.

If I had been told the PST or any other tax was still my responsibility, I would have planned for it. Instead, I’m left with a huge unexpected bill for something that could have been easily avoided with clear, upfront communication.

Buyers in BC, be extremely cautious. Do not assume taxes are included, even if you're told they are. Double-check everything yourself—because if something goes wrong, Sparta won’t take any accountability.

Absolutely excellent experience with Sparta! Brenden and Tresea went above and beyond to approving me and having my new Yamaha Raptor 700R Delivered to me in less than a week! There was an issue with one of the headlights (Minor Delivery Damage) when it arrived and Brenden called me personally and had it all looked after. Sparta covered the repair costs instantly! I bought a 42 foot 5th wheel last fall with Sparta Finance and it was very easy. Christine was there from start to finish dealing with all the red tape and obsticles. They are honest and up front about all the details. Last week I decided to buy a boat and contacted Sparta. Again Christine was there to make it easy. Now I have a nice 19.5 foot bowrider inboard to enjoy this summer. I would recommend them to anyone. You won't be disappointed.

Just let them pull my credit. After they asked for all my personal information void check etc. etc. I asked them why they needed all that stuff upfront they said they work backwards. Lol no kidding! They have multiple ads on Kijiji and Facebook and have no idea about any of the machines. Then, the biweekly payments they post are also not real! What a waste of time I knew better! Don’t waste your time and go to the dealer directly!!! Perfect credit = 9% interest!!!!!
