Unprofessional, and Manipulative – A Disappointing and Costly Experience with Billah and Associates

My experience with Billah and Associates was, unfortunately, both unprofessional and manipulative. Right from the start, things felt off—our initial meeting was set at a Tim Hortons. While I understand some professionals operate without a formal office, meeting at a coffee shop for a financial consultation didn’t set the right tone for what should be a trusted, confidential service.

During that meeting, he handed me a free pen and shared how he knows all the strategies and that his college roommate is a high level employee at Revenue Canada—implying he has insider connections.

The actual work he delivered was disorganized and careless. Shockingly, his plan was to file late and miss the tax deadline altogether—something I’ve never experienced with any accountant before. Despite having paid in full, my file clearly wasn’t a priority. It was a last minute scramble with him not verifying my documents. He admitted to being overwhelmed with too many clients, but that didn’t stop him from taking on more and charging full fees. The delay resulted in penalties I had to cover—penalties that could have easily been avoided had he been honest about his capacity from the outset.

Communication was inconsistent, and at times, he was dismissive. He is unprofessional and terrible to deal with. The rushed service, paired with premium pricing, made the experience even more frustrating. Financial services should be grounded in professionalism, transparency, and reliability. Unfortunately, I found none of those qualities here. I am still trying to resolve the problems he has created. I would not recommend Billah and Associates to anyone seeking trustworthy, accountable service.
