after 3.5 years stay on their apartment rental they charged $35/hr for 26 hrs cleaning the apartment which we cleaned before leaving the apartment. The apartment carpet upon moved in last Oct 20, 2020 was not in good shaped, kitchen sink was filthy with puke like, stuff, stove was rusty and dirty, light switch and furnace intake/outlet was dusty, door edging were dusty, windows got molds on it.Washing machine cant be used until prewashed 5x ita full of dried hard mud and animal hair. So we got it cleaned outselves and after 3.5 years got my own house. Tried our cleaning it as compared to moved in last Oct 20,2020 its 95% way more better just for the carpet that we told them tonhave it professionaly done.We left the sink shiny except for the one side where hand soap drips , windows free of molds. Just cant believed they charged $35/hr for 26 hrs for cleaning. I shiuld have chargwd then too when we first moved in the apartment.

Polar Creek rents the townhouses on 58a Street in Fairview. This is a transitory location with drug addicts and homeless passing through between Mustard Seed and the injection site across the river. This place caters to the lower income bracket, many of whom have children. It was a complete shock and surprise to see them increase the rent by 30% when the lease was set to expire, furthermore, they demanded a credit check otherwise if refused the lease would not be renewed. This is a home for three small children, they've developed friendships here despite being in an undesirable area. Two times rent was late by 48 hours, this was discussed in advance and I was assured there was no issue and I laid the late fees. Subsequent emails show Polar referring to me as an "excellent tennant" which baffles me why they'd treat a single parent of three kids this way. Turns out over the last couple months I'm not alone, this has been there practice since taking over from Panterra. They ramp up rent on families 25-30%, demand the damage deposit difference, demand a credit check on existing tenants, if you refuse the credit check they won't renew the lease. Now without a place for the kids in a couple days in a town with a 2% vacancy rate. Heartless and disgusting company to rent from. Avoid at all costs.

Update, I personally was there cleaning and tiding up and thr walls were wiped and floors moped and stove and fridge pulled out and clean thoroughly and still was hit with a 4 hour cleaning bill despite spending roughly $100 on cleaning supplies and spending a day washing surfaces. The place was cleaner leaving than moving in despite the carpet damage which isn't in dispute, the fact they can just say we cleaned for 4 hours and you're getting almost nothing back is laughable. They do nothing about the junkies on the property going through the garbage either, hire some security there are kids and families living there. Joke of a property firm.
